Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hardcourt
A revitalized Medvedev won his first championship for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
The athlete, a former number one, has endured a difficult year, managing just one win at the big events and undergoing a setback at the US Open.
His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - led to him falling of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-term coach his previous coach.
Now collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
It is his maiden title following the Rome competition and first on a hard court from spring of that year.
The win also signifies the Russian has secured 21 victories at 21 distinct events.
"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters at once, so to secure a title is really nice," said tennis professional the champion.
"This title is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, featuring in Halle in the past months.
Medvedev's retrieving strategy and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had prompted observers to wonder if his skill to play at the highest level was concluded.
But the player has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform aggressively, supported by an improved service.
The champion recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, securing 4 of the last five points to take the lead.
The pair exchanged break points in the following set before Moutet, striving for his first professional victory, took control to create a third set.
Moutet defended four initial break points in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to close out the victory.
Fittingly, the winner earned the title with a point at the net, with the Frenchman failing to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
