The Prince of Wales Plans to Join UN Climate Conference in South America

Prince William is scheduled to attend the COP30 climate summit in Brazil in the coming weeks, as announced by royal officials.

The father and son duo made a joint appearance on Thursday night at a gathering preceding the climate summit, which is scheduled to take place in the northern Brazilian city of Belem.

Father and son were participating in the scientific institution event, marking an unusual joint appearance at a climate summit preparatory event co-hosted by the British authorities.

Climate Leadership Commitment

The King has been a consistent supporter of protecting nature - and Prince William has inherited the mission, with his own Earthshot awards, which will be hosted in Rio preceding the climate conference.

Official representatives have portrayed William's involvement at the upcoming climate summit as taking on an crucial position in "environmental negotiations".

Recent Engagements

The King and Prince of Wales, arriving together in the state Bentley, were introduced to participants featuring conservation experts, researchers, climate change campaigners, diplomats and politicians.

This engagement included speaking together with President Emmanuel Macron of France and other international figures at the Ocean Finance Summit in Monaco in recent months.

The climate conference will dovetail with the the royal's sustainability recognition program, which will wrap up in the Brazilian city the eve of he joins the climate conference on the sixth of November.

Last week the prince referred to the Earthshot finalists as "contemporary champions".

King Charles has been a influential participant at previous climate summits, delivering the inaugural speech in the United Arab Emirates for COP28, including the observation: "We are custodians of the planet, not its owners".

"I have spent a substantial portion of my life trying to alert people to the existential threats confronting humanity over planetary heating, environmental shifts and ecological decline," the King told delegates.
